Currently involved within the SPREAD+ project: I am researching the needs and preferences of people with dementia at different stages of the disease, as well as those of their caregivers. Additionally, I will contribute to the Dutch Dementia Prevention Initiative (NDPI), specifically within the INFORM project. We work together with people with low educational backgrounds and/or a migration background to improve an existing awareness campaign on dementia prevention. |
My PhD examined the role of physical activity assisted by technology in dementia risk reduction among middle-aged and older adults. I have examined risk and protective factors associated with dementia in Indonesia, a low-middle-income country, as a case study, as well as predictors of dementia risk in a UK cohort. I have investigated the effectiveness of interventions using physical activity combined with cognitive tasks and technology on cognitive outcomes in people living with dementia and mild cognitive impairment, using a review of reviews. Furthermore, I have explored the predictors of the interest in using technology for memory and wellbeing in a UK cohort, and examined factors of physical activity, technology and cognitive tasks in a small-scale acceptability study, which included exercise workshops. My current work as research associate is with bipolar, examining the effectiveness of cognitive remediation, and treatment-resistant schizophrenia populations exploring antipsychotics in observational settings. |
