My PhD project falls within the Netherlands Dementia Prevention Initiative (NDPI), which is a large-scale research project carried out by a national, multidisciplinary consortium. At the core of NDPI lies a mission for dementia risk reduction by raising awareness and knowledge about dementia. NDPI has a non-exclusive focus on people with low SES or migrant background to increase the (brain) health gap |
My PhD focused on examining working memory and inhibitory control processes in Alzheimer’s Disease and mild cognitive impairment and examining whether eye tracking could be an effective method to measure these processes. I am currently researching the effectiveness and accessibility of singing and dancing intervention services for people living with dementia.

I am currently researching a range of qualitative topics across a number of NIHR funded projects including: a consultation into care planning in care homes including for people living with dementia; an investigation into digital technology use in older adults within adult social care; and an inquiry into identifying the barriers and facilitators to accessing mental health support for carers of people living with dementia. I will be starting a fellowship funded by the Alzheimer’s Society from August 2023 which will evaluate the role of dementia care navigators in the community. |
