{"id":9580,"date":"2026-06-25T13:20:48","date_gmt":"2026-06-25T11:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interdem.org\/?p=9580"},"modified":"2026-06-25T13:20:49","modified_gmt":"2026-06-25T11:20:49","slug":"world-jain-challenge-2026-winners-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interdem.org\/?p=9580","title":{"rendered":"World JAIN Challenge 2026: Winners Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>World JAIN Challenge 2026 has been successfully completed<\/strong>, resulting in the selection of two winners across the categories <strong>Best Prototype<\/strong> and <strong>Best Full\u2011Fledged Product<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"312\" height=\"312\" src=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9581\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture.png 312w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture-150x150.png 150w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture-287x287.png 287w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/JAIN-challenge-blog-picture-75x75.png 75w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 312px) 100vw, 312px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Prototype category<\/strong> was awarded to <strong>OPALINE<\/strong> <strong>(Paolo Fedele, UK)<\/strong>, a <em>voice\u2011first<\/em> AI companion designed to address loneliness and support cognitive health in older adults. The <strong>Full\u2011Fledged Product category<\/strong> was won by <strong>PALL0\u00ae<\/strong>, developed by <strong>AI2AI (Finland)<\/strong> and represented by <strong>Henrik Ter\u00e4v\u00e4<\/strong> \u2013 an AI-powered intelligent ball designed to support people with cognitive and neurological challenges through natural, screen-free interaction &nbsp;supporting people living with cognitive and neurological conditions through embodied interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All finalist submissions were assessed through a <strong>structured, multi\u2011stakeholder review process<\/strong> involving international experts in dementia and technology, as well as people living with dementia and family caregivers. Across submissions, a clear trend emerged towards <strong>low\u2011burden, practice\u2011aligned AI-technologies<\/strong> that support care and everyday living.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winners were announced by the Chair together with <strong>Hans Arnold<\/strong>, CEO of the JAIN Foundation, and <strong>Franka Meiland<\/strong>, former Chair of the World JAIN Challenge and board member of JAIN. Special thanks are extended to Hans Arnold for his invaluable support of the event and his continued commitment to enabling technology developers to meet WJC requirements. Franka Meiland is gratefully acknowledged for her significant contributions to the jury process and for providing guidance to the incoming Chair.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As members of the independent international jury, <strong>INTERDEM researchers<\/strong> including <strong>David Neal, Shirley Evans, Ulla Eloniemi\u2011Sulkava, Thomas Engelsma, and Duygu Sezgin<\/strong> contributed actively to the review process.
