Central to these challenges is promoting self-reliance, improving the quality of life, and extending the time people with dementia can continue living in their own home environments. Additionally, the JAIN Challenges support healthcare professionals in optimizing care while simultaneously reducing healthcare costs.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"704\" height=\"528\" src=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture9.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9188\" style=\"width:376px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture9.jpg 704w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture9-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 704px) 100vw, 704px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-33af0eee259cc0ac1bead92cbb98a8fc\">INTERDEM was again a great supporter of this challenge in the role of jury members and chair of the challenges*. Also people with dementia and informal caregivers shared valuable insights as jury members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-cadea6423edaa39b8eac9c839e0e413e\">We had seventeen submissions for the categories prototype or market ready product. Six of them reached the semi-final, with various technologies such as AI-based assistants at home to smart help systems in case of emergencies. All finalists showed how their technologies can make an impact in the care of people with dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-74043943723e0be9f9dcf84289c7bf70\">After careful deliberation, two winners were chosen:<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"462\" height=\"308\" src=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture10.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9189\" style=\"width:320px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture10.jpg 462w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture10-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 462px) 100vw, 462px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7d02712c67597342b85a44d6fde3526b\"><strong>Prototype Category Winner:<\/strong> <em><strong>Clef\u2019r Radio <\/strong>by<strong> Rik<\/strong> <strong>Wesselink<\/strong><\/em>\u2014praised for its calming nature, ease of use, and contribution to autonomy and caregiver support. It was co-developed with end users and enhances quality of life rather than solving a specific problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0890af4bc3fa89215792f393ff331ea3\">Rik has worked during his PhD on this prototype and aims to continue with it in order to make impact with his device in daily lives of people with dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"339\" height=\"379\" src=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture11.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-9190\" style=\"width:216px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture11.jpg 339w, https:\/\/interdem.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Picture11-268x300.jpg 268w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 339px) 100vw, 339px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-aeae33fe66580dd797677269c5696d27\"><strong>Product Category Winner:<\/strong> <em><strong>Maatje<\/strong> <strong>doll<\/strong> by <strong>Richard<\/strong> <strong>Kuijpers<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> <strong>Smartrobot<\/strong> <strong>Solutions<\/strong><\/em>\u2014valued for its multiple functions, interactive features, attractive design, and support in providing structure and companionship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-7ef0712c70eced90c0be691b619b5ef6\">Richard explained that the doll is often used in intramural settings, but also at home and he has already plans how this can be made affordable at home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-black-color has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-242478e8a599dbda53a8eb9826b9a4d6\">Congratulations to both winners! JAIN will support these winners and also the other participants.
