{"id":8968,"date":"2024-10-21T10:38:10","date_gmt":"2024-10-21T08:38:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interdem.org\/?p=8968"},"modified":"2024-10-22T11:59:25","modified_gmt":"2024-10-22T09:59:25","slug":"announcement-of-the-publication-award-winner-jacoba-huizenga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interdem.org\/?p=8968","title":{"rendered":"Announcement of the publication award winner: Jacoba Huizenga"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>At the annual INTERDEM meeting connected to the 34<sup>th<\/sup> Alzheimer Europe Conference in Geneva, Jacoba Huizenga received the INTERDEM Academy publication award for her article \u201cWhat matters most: Exploring the everyday lives of people with dementia\u201d (see <a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1002\/gps.5983\">https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1002\/gps.5983<\/a>). Jacoba is a PhD student at the Utrecht University of applied sciences, the Netherlands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chair of the jury Georgina Charlesworth explained that the jury valued that it could help researchers to consider if what they are researching is really meaningful for people living with dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The jury was unanimously in selecting this paper as winner! Besides the publicity&nbsp; and opportunity of presenting her work, Jacoba also won a price of 1000 euros as a boost for her career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jacoba presented her paper, her work and the establishment of the so-called Brian power group together with a member of this group: Gerda van Tongerloo. What matters most to people with dementia was described in a model with six domains. Once the publication was out, the idea came up to make a publication of it for the people with dementia and caregivers themselves, and this led to a beautiful book (in Dutch), that was sold out in a very short time!
