I am currently a Doctoral Candidate for the HOMEDEM Project, studying at TU\/e in Industrial Design. My PhD research focuses on designing technology for self-directed play to enhance the lives of people with dementia living at home, addressing the significant challenge of diminished agency, motivation, and initiative. I have prior expertise in participatory design methods, furniture design, and education programming.<\/p>

I have a particular interest in young-onset dementia and how we can create more opportunities for meaningful activity post-diagnosis. My PhD research has been co-produced with a team of people living with young onset dementia and I feel strongly that we should be working to share power with lived experience researchers.<\/p>

In our study we aim to identify dyadic preferences of presons with dementia and informal-caregivers for in-home support that may prevent crisis through a discrete-choice-experiment: a national DCE to enable persons with dementia to stay at home for as long as possible while avoiding crisis situations. prior to the DCE, qualitative methods (interviews, focus groups) will be used to identify the important care components that need to be included in the DCE. in this phase, there will be special attention for persons with dementia with a migration background<\/p>
